Arvind Ethan David is a Santa Barbara County–based writer and producer. His debut novel, The Great Game (Thomas & Mercer, 2026), a historical thriller set in 1905 London, has drawn rave reviews: "historical fiction at its very best" (Kirkus), "devilishly clever… finesse and flair" (Booklist), and "breathtaking… a brilliant, relentlessly paced thriller" (Jeffery Deaver), along with a Historical Novel Society Editor's Choice.

As a graphic novelist, he adapted Raymond Chandler's Trouble Is My Business and wrote the Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency comics for IDW; his graphic novel Darkness Visible earned a Bram Stoker Award nomination. His screen work includes Dirk Gently (Netflix/BBC America), Anansi Boys (Amazon), and the Asian Academy Award–winning The Garden of Evening Mists. In theatre, he received an Olivier Award nomination for his children's musical The Boy With Wings and was a lead producer of the Grammy- and Tony-winning Jagged Little Pill. His career started when he met Douglas Adams as a teenager and the late, great novelist (and former Santa Barbara resident) took the young writer under his wing.
